How it feels

Both visits are numbed. The first is the longer one; most people rest or listen to something. The temporary crown can feel a little bulky for a few days.

Steps

  1. We numb the tooth and shape it.

  2. A digital scan replaces the putty tray.

  3. You leave with a temporary crown the same day.

  4. About two weeks later we fit, check and bond the final crown.

Aftercare

Chew on the other side while the temporary is on, and skip sticky foods. Floss by sliding the floss out sideways.

Questions

Crown or large filling?

If more than half the tooth is filling or there is a crack, a crown usually protects it better. We will show you on the X-ray.
